Beskrivning i Serning, Inga: Övre Norrlands järnålder.

"Ajaur, Lycksele parish, Lappland.
Marsh find of one ski tip.
Age estimated at about 1000 years.
Property of Västerbotten's District Museum, Umeå, No. 1682, but placed in Skellefteå Museum under the number 654.
Bought by Umeå Museum together with Nos. 1678-1690. Ajaur village is situated 33 km north-east of Lycksele church. Nothing is known of the conditions under which the find was made.
The fragment is of pine.
Length: 32.5 cm.
The front end is drawn out to a tip, 5 cm long and turning upwards.
It has three protuberances on the over side, and double loops at the sides, which are bent in a bow form and hang downwards. The under side of the tip is rounded. The fragment has been through considerable wear. On each of the sides are two narrow incisions.
A plaited ribbon pattern begins on the over side behind the actual tip, limited to three tri-double moulding lindes (cavetto), which seem to follow parallel with the edges of the ski. The under side is plane; the ski was without doubt convex further back.
Geological examination has not been carried out in this case. Judging from the pattern and the decoration found on this ski, it cannot be older than from 800-900 A.D. at the earliest."
